Farmers Market Tips

With so many farmers markets popping up all over southern Ontario, some of these farmers markets can vary from arts/craft type farmers markets that help support local artist, hobbiest and local farmers. To a more traditional type of farmers market, there are a few different things to bring and look for.

Leave the pets at home!!  Sure it's nice to take them for a drive on a nice summers morning. Pets can get into thimgs that they shouldn't, no matter how well behaved they are.

Bring some cash!! Not all farmers markets accept debit or credit card. To be on the safe side stop at a ATM on your way to the farmers market.

Early bird gets the worm!! Try to get there as early as you can, to get the freshest of the fresh.

Bring a bag!! Reusable canvas bags are the way to go here. Stong and durable to carry all that local freshness home.

Display!! It may not sound like a big thing. But it can mean the difference between getting a browsed piece of produce, or a nice ripe piece. A farmer that takes great pride in there work, won't just dump it on a stand.

The Price!! It should be comparable to you local grocery store. But in a few cases it can be a little bit higher, what's a couple extra cents for that great tasting local fresh food.
